BBC Introducing artist releases debut single ahead of UK support tour
Date posted: 12 October 2017
A University of Derby student has been invited to tour with X Factor winner Ben Haenow for a second time.
James Plimmer, who is originally from Leicester, is in his third year of studying Popular Music with Music Technology. James previously toured with Ben Haenow in 2016 after he won the 11th series of the ITV talent show. He has also been selected as part of BBC Introducing in Leicestershire.
The tour will see James performing nine shows across the UK, including venues in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh in December this year. It coincides with the release of James’s self-written debut single, ‘Burning Bridges’, this Friday (October 13), which he recently recorded a music video for.
James said: “I'm massively excited to get back out on the road with Ben. I cannot wait for the adrenaline and euphoria of playing live to a huge crowd of people all singing my songs back to me.
“Burning Bridges is a metaphor for the memories and nostalgia of the past actually preventing you from moving on with your current life and essentially you end up 'burning bridges' with people.
“Filming my first music video for the single was absolutely incredible and took the song to a whole new level. I worked with some incredible videographers and actresses who helped portray the emotion of the song perfectly.”
Once the tour has finished, James plans to release his debut album as part of a crowdfunding campaign. He is also looking to partner with businesses, sponsors and brands to help raise profiles for both parties.
